Getting Started Attend a Training Workshop To get started, bring a team from your congregation to a workshop hosted by another congregation. Those attending the workshop: Learn about Climate Change, Iowa’s piece of the puzzle, and why religious communities are getting involved in the issue Measure their carbon footprint and find simple ways to reduce its size Receive the training, resources and support they need to take the program back to their home congregation Training includes: A Cool Congregations organizational manual A CD of electronic documents to make organizing easier Specially designed computer program to measure your global warming emissions Click here to see if there is an upcoming Cool Congregations Workshop near you. Host a Training Workshop Be a leader in your community. If there is not a training workshop near you, you may want to consider hosting or co-hosting a workshop. Co-hosts of a ‘Cool Congregations’ training workshop: Recruit teams of interested members from 10 area congregations Help others measure their carbon footprint Provide a welcoming space for the event If you are interested in hosting, contact Sarah Webb to schedule your event and to receive the ‘Cookbook’ of instructions to guide you in hosting. Outside of Iowa? Even if you are not in Iowa, there may be opportunities to attend a workshop. Cool Congregations is branching out to other states through the Interfaith Power & Light Campaign.
