Welcome to Iowa Interfaith Power & Light
Iowa Interfaith Power & Light (Iowa IPL) is a joint response of Christian, Jewish, Muslim and other faith
communities to Climate Change. We work to protect creation and safeguard society’s most vulnerable by
providing education about global warming, helping individuals and congregations to reduce their carbon
footprints, and advocating for sustainable energy. We currently offer:
Cool Congregations Cool Congregations is a stewardship program which helps individuals measure their carbon footprints and find simple ways to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions by 10%. Presentations We offer presentations on a wide array of topics, including the science of global warming, its theological dimensions, and its connections with poverty both here and abroad. We would be delighted to come speak to your congregation or at any type of gathering. Please contact director@iowaipl.org to schedule an event. Travel reimbursements are recommended. Updates on State and National Climate News and Legislation By signing up for our newsletter, you will receive regular updates on state and national climate news and legislation. In addition, you will receive action alerts letting you know how you can influence legislation crucial to solving global warming. Workshops for Faith Leaders These workshops specifically address the science of climate change, its theological dimensions, and how the issue can be incorporated within religious communities. While these workshops are currently under development, please let us know if you would be interested in attending one by contacting director@iowaipl.org. Resources We provide educational and spiritual resources for faith communities interested in becoming involved in these crucial issues. We also offer assistance in finding sources of green power, tips on improving the energy efficiency of homes and places of worship, and discounts on energy efficient products.
